When Did You Last Check Your Triad Battery? Why the Annual Tune-Up Matters

The Triad 750W battery is built to last up to 10 years. Most riders never think about it until something goes wrong.

That gap -- between the lifespan the battery is capable of and the lifespan it actually delivers -- is almost always a maintenance gap, not a manufacturing defect.

What happens over time

Lithium battery cells drift. Not dramatically, not all at once -- but over cycles, over seasons, over years of use, individual cell groups inside the pack fall out of balance with each other. One group charges a little higher. Another discharges a little faster. The BMS compensates as best it can, but compensation has limits.

The visible result: range drops. Charging takes longer. The pack feels less consistent. Riders adjust without realizing they are adjusting.

The invisible result: the BMS, trying to protect the weakest cell group, starts limiting the whole pack. You are not getting the full capacity the battery is physically capable of delivering.

What LCD page 3 is telling you

Every Triad Smart-BMS battery has three information pages on its touchscreen. Page 3 is the cell-balance page. The blue and green numbers show the delta state.

If the number is too wide -- the cells have drifted. The pack is underperforming. It is not a dead battery. It is a battery that needs a tune-up balancing.

What the tune-up does

A BMS balance service reads the full charge log, manually rebalances each cell group, resets the BMS parameters to factory spec, and confirms the pack on the bench with a full charge / discharge cycle. The pack ships back performing at its rated spec.

This is not a repair for a broken battery. It is maintenance for a battery that is still running but no longer performing at the level it should.

When to do it

  • Every 2 years as routine maintenance

  • When range has dropped noticeably from the original spec

  • When charging time has increased

  • When LCD page 3 shows uneven cell bars

  • When the pack has been in storage for 6 months or more

A dead pack is just the most urgent version of the same job. The service is identical either way -- the difference is whether you choose the timing or the battery chooses it for you.

Book the BMS Restore Service

Triad is accepting 40 batteries for the BMS Restore Service through Thursday June 25, 2026 at 7:00 PM ET. Book and ship by that date.
